SUMMARY:Las Vegas Chapter Dinner
DESCRIPTION:With the help of June Deley\, we have planned our next gathering.  It will beat the Claim Jumper (601 N Green Valley Parkway\, Henderson\, NV 89074) onThursday\, April 25\, 2024\, at 6:00 p.m.  We chose it because we had anice dinner there last year\, and it is right off the 215 on Green ValleyParkway and easy to find.  Cyndy will need your RSVP by April 18\, 2024\, togive the count to the restaurant. Email Cyndy (ceanderson@ysu.edu) with your name\, YSU graduation year (if applicable) and name of guests before April 18th.  Alumni\, Penguin friends\, and fans are invited!The cost with tax and tip is about $40 per person.  We have negotiated withthem to give us separate checks as long as couples sit together\, and we willneed to be patient with the server as s/he prepares the checks.Here is the menu from which you will choose that evening:– Jambalaya.  Blackened chicken\, shrimp\, Andouille sausage\, mixed peppers\,onions\, rice\, tomatoes\, Jambalaya sauce\, and green onions.– Atlantic Salmon.  Garlic herb butter or blackened with Jasmine rice androasted vegetables.– Steak & Shrimp.  Seven-ounce top sirloin\, grilled shrimp\,\, garlic-herbbutter\, parmesan onion ring\, green onions\, mashed potatoes\, and roastedvegetables.– Top Sirloin. Seven-ounce certified Angus beef\, garlic-herb butter\, parmesanonion ring\, mashed potatoes\, and roasted vegetables.– BBQ Baby Back Ribs.  Half a rack of ribs basted with their BBQ sauce\, mashedpotatoes\, and roasted vegetables.– Chicken Florentine.  Spinach artichoke dip\, mashed potatoes\, tomatoes\,Whiskey glaze\, Dijon cream sauce\, parmesan cheese\, and microgreens.Along with the entrée\, you get a choice of small garden salad or Caesarsalad.  You also get a choice of bottomless beverages including Barq’s RootBeer\, Coke\, Diet Coke\, Sprite\, Dr. Pepper\, lemonade\, iced tea\, or tropicaltea.April 25 is also World Penguin Day and falls during National Volunteer Week\, so to celebrate both\, we are collecting food items for Catholic Charities in Las Vegas. We chose this charity because the Executive Director of the agency\, Tom Roberts\, is a YSU alum.  They will accept non-perishable foods for their food pantry\, especially the following items:– Canned meat (tuna\, chicken\, or spam)– Canned vegetables– Peanut butter– Pasta or rice– CerealPlease consider bringing some of these items to the dinner to show that YSU Penguins give back to their community. RSVP to Cyndy Anderson (ceanderson@ysu.edu) by April 18th.

Charleston Blvd.\, Las Vegas\, NV 89117) on Thursday\, February 1\, 2024\, at 6:00 p.m for our Las Vegas YSU Alumni Chapter Dinner. Alumni\, Penguin friends\, and fans are invited! \n\n\n\nNow\, here’s the catch. The manager told me that the computer system wentdown when they tried to ring up separate checks for the banquet menu soTHERE WILL BE ONE BILL FOR THE MEALS. EACH PERSON WILL NEED TO BRING $35 IN CASH FOR THEIR MEAL. The $35 includes tax and gratuity on the meal.I will be responsible for paying the meal bill. We can order alcohol and pay for those drinks separately since the drinks are on the menu. It made sense to the manager so I guess it makes sense to me. \n\n\n\nHere is the menu from which you will choose that evening: \n\n\n\n\nChicken Parmesan– sautéed chicken coated with Mama Mandola’s bread crumbs topped with Pomodoro sauce\, romano\, and mozzarella cheese.\n\n\n\nChicken Marsala–wood-grilled chicken topped with mushrooms and our Lombardo Marsala wine sauce.\n\n\n\nPenne Carrabba–penne pasta tossed in Alfredo sauce with wood-grilledchicken\, sautéed mushrooms\, and peas.\n\n\n\nGrilled Salmon–wood-grilled salmon topped with lemon-butter sauce\, tomato\,and basil.\n\n\n\nPork Chop Marsala–wood-grilled\, bone-in pork chop topped with mushrooms and Lombardo wine sauce.\n\n\n\n\nEach meal comes with a choice of Caesar salad or Italian salad\, or soup\,fresh bread with herbs and olive oil\, an alcohol-free beverage\, and minicannoli.
