DESCRIPTION:Pete’s Pride volunteers are needed to assist with directing guests to reserved seating prior to the Thomas Colloquium Lecture Ben Sherwood on Monday\, March 11\, The Centofanti Symposium featuring Thomas Gabor & Fred Guttenberg on Wednesday\, March 20\, and the Skeggs Lecture featuring Cris Carter on Wednesday\, April 17. All the lectures will be held at Stambaugh Auditorium.Volunteers will arrive at 5:30 p.m. for instruction. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The lecture begins at 7:00 p.m.\, at which time volunteers are free to watch the presentation. Standing and a professional demeanor is required. Volunteers are encouraged to wear business professional dress in red or black colors if possible

SUMMARY:Las Vegas Chapter Dinner
DESCRIPTION:With the help of June Deley\, we have planned our next gathering.  It will beat the Claim Jumper (601 N Green Valley Parkway\, Henderson\, NV 89074) onThursday\, April 25\, 2024\, at 6:00 p.m.  We chose it because we had anice dinner there last year\, and it is right off the 215 on Green ValleyParkway and easy to find.  Cyndy will need your RSVP by April 18\, 2024\, togive the count to the restaurant. Email Cyndy (ceanderson@ysu.edu) with your name\, YSU graduation year (if applicable) and name of guests before April 18th.  Alumni\, Penguin friends\, and fans are invited!The cost with tax and tip is about $40 per person.  We have negotiated withthem to give us separate checks as long as couples sit together\, and we willneed to be patient with the server as s/he prepares the checks.Here is the menu from which you will choose that evening:– Jambalaya.  Blackened chicken\, shrimp\, Andouille sausage\, mixed peppers\,onions\, rice\, tomatoes\, Jambalaya sauce\, and green onions.– Atlantic Salmon.  Garlic herb butter or blackened with Jasmine rice androasted vegetables.– Steak & Shrimp.  Seven-ounce top sirloin\, grilled shrimp\,\, garlic-herbbutter\, parmesan onion ring\, green onions\, mashed potatoes\, and roastedvegetables.– Top Sirloin. Seven-ounce certified Angus beef\, garlic-herb butter\, parmesanonion ring\, mashed potatoes\, and roasted vegetables.– BBQ Baby Back Ribs.  Half a rack of ribs basted with their BBQ sauce\, mashedpotatoes\, and roasted vegetables.– Chicken Florentine.  Spinach artichoke dip\, mashed potatoes\, tomatoes\,Whiskey glaze\, Dijon cream sauce\, parmesan cheese\, and microgreens.Along with the entrée\, you get a choice of small garden salad or Caesarsalad.  You also get a choice of bottomless beverages including Barq’s RootBeer\, Coke\, Diet Coke\, Sprite\, Dr. Pepper\, lemonade\, iced tea\, or tropicaltea.April 25 is also World Penguin Day and falls during National Volunteer Week\, so to celebrate both\, we are collecting food items for Catholic Charities in Las Vegas. We chose this charity because the Executive Director of the agency\, Tom Roberts\, is a YSU alum.  They will accept non-perishable foods for their food pantry\, especially the following items:– Canned meat (tuna\, chicken\, or spam)– Canned vegetables– Peanut butter– Pasta or rice– CerealPlease consider bringing some of these items to the dinner to show that YSU Penguins give back to their community. RSVP to Cyndy Anderson (ceanderson@ysu.edu) by April 18th.

DESCRIPTION:Join the YSU Columbus Alumni Chapter for National Volunteer Week on Saturday\, April 27th from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM! This year\, the chapter will again volunteer with the Mid Ohio Food Collective at their on-site pantry\, 4041 Gantz Rd \, Grove City\, OH 43123. \n\n\n\nThe on-site pantry at the Mid-Ohio Food Collective is looking for dedicated volunteers to help serve customers through the various stations inside the market. Some volunteers will be preparing food and carts while others help with registration and loading. 16 years of age and older are welcome. Ages 11-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Please maintain a 1:1 adult to child ratio and keep child with adult at all times. \n\n\n\nConnect with fellow Penguins as we give back to the community! The book selection for April is The Answer Is: Reflections on My Life by Alex Trebek. This book club is a partnership between the YSU Office of Alumni Engagement and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
