Andrew Och to present ‘First Ladies in Wartime’ lecture Nov. 3
The Youngstown State University Department of Humanities, through the Reeder Endowment in History, will host “First Ladies in Wartime: An Interactive Lecture with Andrew Och” 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St.
Och, known as “The First Ladies Man,” is an award-winning television and multimedia producer and author of Unusual for Their Time: On the Road with America’s First Ladies, Volumes 1 & 2.
He served as a producer for the C-SPAN and White House Historical Association series First Ladies: Influence and Image and is a member of the board of directors for the National First Ladies Day Commission.
During his lecture, Och will share stories and insights about America’s first ladies during wartime, exploring their influence, leadership and contributions throughout history.
“The first ladies of the United States are among the most powerful and influential unelected and unpaid women in the world,” Och said. “They’ve always played vital roles in shaping our country’s leadership, progress and identity.”
The event is free and open to the public.
The program is part of the Reeder Endowment in History’s ongoing lecture series, which brings distinguished speakers to campus to promote public engagement with historical scholarship.
