Governor appoints Nadia Zarbaugh as student trustee

Nadia Christine Zarbaugh, a sophomore Biological Sciences major from Poland, has been appointed by Gov. Mike Dewine to serve as a student member of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees. Zarbaugh’s term will run through May 2027.
“Nadia exemplifies the academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service that define Youngstown State University students,” said YSU President Bill Johnson. “Her appointment as a student trustee to the YSU Board of Trustees reflects her dedication to both her education and her community, and we look forward to the insight and perspective she will bring in this important role.”
Zarbaugh graduated as valedictorian from Poland Seminary High School, where she served as a student ambassador for the Poland Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence, president of the student council, vice president of the Interact Club and recording secretary of its National Honors Society chapter.
At YSU, Zarbaugh is a part of the Sokolov Honors College and is in the BaccMed program. She is also a representative in the American Medical Women’s Association, American Medical Student’s Association and Sight for All United.
An active member of her community, Zarbaugh volunteers at United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, Akron Children’s Hospital’s Boardman Campus and Inspiring Service.
