No matter where you live there is a good chance that you will run into alumni of Youngstown State University. Our alumni chapters are represented across 14 states.
Jan Harter, James Slessor, Moritz Bayer and Tanishka Agnihotri, students from the Williamson College of Business Administration, were selected as the John D. Beeghly Fellows for the 2025 Fall Semester.
The John D. Beeghly Fellows program provides students with a paid fellowship working with the Ohio Small Business Development Center, Export Assistance Network and the APEX Accelerator. Projects include domestic and international market research, financial modeling, export readiness studies, business viability analysis, cash flow projections, sales forecasting, marketing & social media strategies, research on government contracting opportunities, marketing capability statements and outreach for government contracting efforts. Students gain valuable career-related work experience to competitively position themselves in the job market upon graduation.
The Youngstown State University Ward Beecher Planetarium and the Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society invite the community to an evening under the stars during the annual Skywatch event at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Williamson Innovation Park, 8399 Tippecanoe Road in Canfield.
The outdoor event will feature telescope viewings, stargazing opportunities, and educational discussions led by astronomy enthusiasts from YSU and the Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society.
Attendees of all ages are encouraged to participate and learn more about the night sky in a fun, interactive environment.
Admission and parking are free, and telescopes will be provided. Guests are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring their curiosity.
Registration is preferred to receive updates or weather-related notifications. The rain date is Tuesday, Oct. 28.

A group of six Youngstown State University faculty and staff members represented the university at the 2025 Engagement Scholarship Consortium (ESC) International Conference, held in Roanoke, Virginia. The event brought together institutions from around the world to share best practices and celebrate the power of partnerships between universities and the communities they serve.
The YSU delegation attended sessions focused on deepening community impact, supporting community-engaged research, and assessing engagement outcomes. For YSU, the conference affirmed that the university is on a strong path toward national best practices in community engagement—work that continues to grow through collaboration across campus and beyond.
