Youngstown State University’s Jazz Studies Area presents the YSU Jazz Combos Concert 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 in the Spotlight Theater, Bliss Hall. Under the direction of Kent Engelhardt and Glenn Schaft, this dynamic concert will showcase two talented student ensembles performing classic jazz selections.

Engelhardt’s quintet will perform “Some Other Blues” by John Coltrane, “Tidal Breeze” by YSU alumnus and Honorary Doctorate recipient Harold Danko and “Road Song” by Wes Montgomery.

Schaft’s quartet will perform “Blues In The Twilight” by Freddie Bryant & Jonny King, “It’s Only a Paper Moon” by Harold Arlen, “Push” by YSU alumnus Tim Harker and “Song For Bilbao” by Pat Metheny.

The event is free and open to the public.
