YSU social work student and alumni honored by National Association of Social Workers Ohio Chapter
One Youngstown State University social work student and two alumni have been recognized by the National Association of Social Workers Ohio Chapter for their outstanding contributions to the profession and their communities.
Each year, NASW Ohio honors exceptional social workers, students and agencies whose work embodies the values and ethics of the field. Regional winners are selected across the state’s eight NASW regions, with statewide winners to be announced at the NASW Ohio Social Work Celebration Gala on March 14, 2026.
This year, three individuals connected to YSU’s Department of Social Work were recognized as Region 4 award recipients:
- Student of the Year: Logan Kaminski, Bachelor of Social Work student, Youngstown State University
- Emerging Leader: Faith Mundy, ongoing caseworker, Mahoning County Children Services, and YSU alumna
- Outstanding Service to NASW Ohio: Rosalynda “Rose” Dina, YSU alumna with Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees
Kaminski, a fourth-year Bachelor of Social Work student, was honored for his professionalism, leadership and dedication to the YSU and greater Youngstown communities. In addition to excelling in his coursework, he serves as drum major for the YSU Marching Pride, participates in the University Partnership Program and is an active member of the Student Social Work Association. Kaminski is known for his compassion, humility and commitment to advocating for others.
Mundy, who earned her undergraduate degree in social work from YSU, was recognized as an emerging leader for her innovation and commitment to the profession. Now pursuing her Master of Social Work at The Ohio State University, she serves as an ongoing caseworker with Mahoning County Children Services, where she helps reunite families and ensure stability for children.
Dina, a YSU alumna who earned both her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from YSU, was honored for her outstanding service to NASW Ohio, reflecting her ongoing engagement in advancing social work values and advocacy across the state.
Dana Davis, chair of YSU’s Department of Social Work, said the recognition highlights the department’s strong commitment to preparing students for meaningful service.
“We are incredibly proud of Logan, Faith and Rose for representing YSU and the field of social work with excellence,” Davis said. “Their compassion, leadership and professionalism reflect the very best of our program and the values that define our profession.”
