YSU University Theatre launches inaugural summer theatre camp

Youngstown State University’s Department of Theatre is proud to announce the launch of its first annual YSU University Theatre Summer Camp, designed to inspire and educate the next generation of theatre artists.

This exciting new program welcomes middle school and high school students of all experience levels to explore the world of theatrical performance and production.

The comprehensive camp experience provides young performers and technicians with professional-level training in essential theatre skills, including acting techniques, voice development, stage presence, costume construction and set design. Students will build confidence while discovering their artistic potential in a supportive, collaborative environment.

The camp experience encompasses acting and improvisation workshops led by University Theatre faculty, scene study and personalized monologue coaching, technical theatre and stagecraft training, hands-on learning opportunities and collaborative performance experiences that foster creativity and teamwork.

The program culminates in a special showcase performance 6 p.m., Friday, June 20 in the YSU Ford Theater in Bliss Hall, where campers will demonstrate their newly developed skills for family, friends and the community.

This showcase performance is free and open to the public.

Parking for events in Bliss Hall is available at the Wick Avenue Deck (M30) using the Walnut Street entrance for a $5 fee payable in cash only.
