YSU faculty member receives Ohio teacher educator award

Billy Green

Billy Green, a part-time faculty member in Youngstown State University’s Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Education, has received the 2026 Outstanding Teacher Educator Award from the Ohio Association of Teacher Educators.

The annual award recognizes teacher educators who demonstrate excellence in teaching, mentorship and student support while contributing to the advancement of teacher education through innovation, research and collaboration with schools, communities and educational partners.

Green was selected by the OATE Awards Committee following a nomination recognizing his dedication and impact as a teacher educator. The award recognizes faculty members, supervisors and instructors in teacher preparation programs whose work has made a meaningful impact on preparing future educators and advancing the field of education.

“I’m truly honored to receive the 2026 OATE Outstanding Teacher Educator Award,” Green said. “This recognition is incredibly meaningful because teaching and supporting future educators has been such an important part of my professional journey. I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to do this work at Youngstown State University, and for the colleagues, mentors and students who continue to shape my work and inspire me to keep growing as an educator.”

Green’s recognition reflects Youngstown State University’s continued commitment to excellence in educator preparation and the faculty members who support future teachers through instruction, mentorship and applied learning.
