YSU Dana School of Music presents Wind Ensemble and Concert Band in concert at Stambaugh Auditorium

The Youngstown State University Dana School of Music will present its Wind Ensemble and Concert Band in concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025 at Stambaugh Auditorium. The concert will feature a diverse program ranging from traditional marches to contemporary works and holiday favorites.

The YSU Concert Band, under the direction of Kate Ferguson, will open the performance with a selection of works. The program includes Katahj Copley’s contemporary piece “Backlash,” Ralph Vaughan Williams’ beloved “English Folk Song Suite” arranged by Ed Huckeby, and John Rutter’s “Candlelight Carol” arranged by Jay Dawson. The Concert Band will also perform John Philip Sousa’s spirited “Mother Hubbard March” and a festive arrangement of “Dashing Through the Snow,” based on the classic “Jingle Bells.”

The YSU Wind Ensemble, directed by Michael S. Butler, will present the second half of the concert with three compelling works. The program features Ryan George’s “Firefly,” the late David Maslanka’s “Traveler,” and Dennis Llinás’ energetic “La Chancla.”
